My family loves this Un-Caesar Salad! We pair it with homemade burgers, lasagna, steaks, and chicken. Chances are if you joined us around our table for a meal you have been served this salad on more than one occasion. It’s a crowd pleaser!
You know you have stumbled upon a gem when it’s your most requested recipe to share. My best friend, Jacquie, was the one who introduced us to the recipe many years ago. We actually refer to it as “Jacquie’s Salad.” Truth be told she is usually the person that makes and brings this yummy salad to our house for dinner. She is seriously the best friend a gal could ask for.
We also call it Un-Caesar Salad (hence the title) because while it has many similarities to Caesar Salad, it’s not quite Caesar Salad. It’s just as tasty as Caesar, but a little tangier.
Regardless of what you call it, you will be singing its praises if you decide to give it a try.
So let’s get to the recipe.
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup vinegar
juice of half a lemon
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. seasoning salt
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
3-4 dashes of Tabasco or hot sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. grated fresh parmesan cheese
3-4 cloves crushed garlic
Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate until ready to serve.
1 head romaine lettuce
2-3 green onions
1/4 cup shaved parmesan cheese
1/4 cup cubed mozzerella cheese
1/2 cup croutons (I usually use more)
Mix all ingredients except croutons and parmesan cheese into a large bowl.
You can certainly use store bought croutons, but these homemade croutons taste so much better.
- 4-6 slices of bread. Old bread works best. Cut the bread into cubes.
- mix with 2-3 cloves of crushed garlic and 2 tbsp. olive oil.
- mix well.
- spread on a baking sheet.
- bake at 250 for 45-60 minutes (maybe longer depending on your oven temp). Move them around about half way through cooking.salad
A few minutes before you serve. Add croutons and shaved parmesan cheese.
Finally, pour dressing over salad, toss and serve!
Add this delicious Un-Caesar Salad to your next gathering. Chances are your guests will love it so much they will be asking you for the recipe.
