Two ingredient Apple Bake
This simple Apple Bake recipe is one of my favourites. Years ago I was following a blog (unfortunately she doesn’t blog anymore) and the blogger posted this recipe. I have been making it ever since.
I loved it because it was simple and contained only two ingredients. Yes, just two ingredients, apples and blueberries. The fact that it overflows with nutrition make this one of my go-to treats.
Last week we made our annual trip to the apple orchard and since we had a large bag of apples that we needed to eat I made my way to the kitchen to cook up a couple of our favourite apple recipes.
I started with this Apple Bake!
It’s easy peasy. You just chop up apples, I didn’t bother peeling the apples, but you could. I chopped up 8 cups of apples and then added about three 3 cups of blueberries. (However, you could add as many blueberries as you like) You really can’t mess this recipe up!
The only thing that could make this recipe better would be fresh picked blueberries. However, I used frozen and it was still delicious!
I baked it for about 45 minutes at 350 ˚Ç, stirring every 10-15 minutes. The time will vary depending on the kind of apples and how thick or thin you chopped the apples. The key is to make sure the apples are soft.
I usually just wait for it to cool a little, and then I scoop up a big bowl. It’s yummy.
This time I threw it in my blender to make it smoother. It’s good that way, but I prefer it with more texture, so I won’t blend it next time.
Apple Bake Recipe
1. Chop about 8 cups apples into bite-size pieces
2. Place apples into a baking dish
3. Add about three cups of fresh or frozen blueberries (I used frozen because that’s what I had)
5. Bake until apples are soft
Eat and enjoy!
