As a photographer, I believe my job is to be the observer. I like to slip into the world of the families who invite me into their lives and document organic moments. Moments that just unfold as they will, not forced.
So for an hour or so, I join families and become the observer of their lives. While my camera grabs the outer beauty of the people I am photographing, my heart connects with the hearts of those I’m fortunate enough to spend time with.
I rarely do photo shoots even though I love them. The truth is I feel honoured when I am welcomed into the families’ lives for just a little while. So being invited to observe beautiful moments and to capture them in pictures feels a little like catching a butterfly, fleeting and beautiful!
I have been blessed to have been invited by this family to photograph them for over five years. I am very grateful!
It all began in 2012 when their beautiful little L joined their family. I believe she was just 10 days old. She was so tiny and precious and perfect in every way.
Then six months later I was invited back. Of course, I was smitten by her, just look at those gorgeous eyes and amazing light up your face smile.
At one year old, gone were the days of lying little L on a blanket and snapping pictures while she smiled and cooed. Nope, now she was on a mission to explore her world and my job was simply to capture her in action.
The third year was an extra special year because the family had welcomed a precious little baby boy into the fold. Miss L was a sweet big sister.
Baby E was so tiny and sweet.
Another year, and these two just keeping get cuter!
Then this past summer I met up with this adorable duo again (and their parents). This time we chose to meet at a park and it was a ton of fun. It was fun to explore the park with them. Sometimes I miss the magic of little ones.
do things that makes you happy
I love so many aspects of photography! Photography serves as a source of happiness and creativity for me. I am so thankful that I discovered the joy of capturing moments with a lens. I encourage everyone to find things in their life that fill them with joy and purpose. Life is so short and it’s important to spend time doing what lights you up.
Have a blessed weekend and do something you love!!
